With a 5 – 3 “NO” our Planning Commission slammed the door again on the Four Farms expansion of our south downtown area. These developers would force growth between White Marsh and Hosier Road to the tune of 462 acres. It would provide 2500 new homes and 164,000 square feet of commercial space. Sounds wonderful when a builder will throw in a new school and connector roads to currently congested traffic but residents of the area don’t want any part of it. Eminent Domain is when governments steal buildings and land to meet their needs. Reverse Eminent Domain is when an all-wise government forces buildings and land on a populace because they think it’s a good idea. Planning Commissions are created to stop bad ideas before they get to Council Chambers where growth is a hallucinogen that fulfills dreams. We invite your comment.

Actually the vote approved tabling the final vote until the December 21st Planning Commission meeting. The public hearing is still open.
Four Farms flies in the face of the Comprehensive Plan which is supposed to keep the southern part of Suffolk agricultural.
The connector roads will not be established until over 500 homes are built.

Delayed again! Four Farms requested that the planning meeting again be tabled; the final meeting is set for December 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM. This will be your last chance to voice your concerns! City Council Chambers, 441 Market St., Suffolk Municipal Building.
"Now is NOT the time to take risks with Suffolk's future. The Comprehensive Plan process is in place to take into account significant changes in the city - why is Suffolk government by-passing the process they have developed and used over the years"?
Answer-PLANS TEAR EASILY, THEY ARE ONLY PAPER AND WHAT DID ANYONE REALLY KNOW WHEN PLANS WERE MADE?.
If it was for the north end, it would be a go
Beware, this issue has many traps. This thing should be denied by all and we should look into who has an interest in this development. Want to bet we find some elected people connected to this for the money?
Keep digging into the facts!
