Good Luck to All Candidates

I'd like to extend a sincere "good luck" to all candidates tomorrow - from the Governor's race on down. Candidates from both parties and our Independent candidates are running because they believe they can make a difference in our state, district, and local communities. Thanks to all for participating in the political process and for putting in the time, money, and effort to campaign.

How can anyone say good luck to all the cadidates. There must be a winner and a loser unless they are running unopposed. How very sad that in these ruinous times three consitutional officers and a state delegate are unopposed. A bad message indeed that we agree with their performance and accountability.

Small Cities Face Lack Of Candidates For Office.

The Chicago Tribune (11/3, Huffstutter) reports on the lack of candidates in small-city elections this year. "Though the country saw an unprecedented public interest in all things political last year, many towns this election season are facing an acute shortage of candidates willing to take on the headaches of leadership. State officials and political scientists say finding candidates has always been a problem for small towns and rural communities, but the recession this year has made it particularly tough," as such jobs have "grown enormously more complex over the years, and it is hard to find residents who are willing and able to make difficult choices, particularly during times of shrinking budgets." In addition, "the pay is low, the hours long and the complaints loud."

The most compelling issue that affects our local elections, for sure! How is it that we can not get the brightest and most talented to run for public office? While some of the incumbents deserve our support, others are just in office to collect a paycheck and do for themselves! Very sad and this will lead to the end of our Republic if not addressed strongly. We need more people involved in the process, or the process will fail us all.

I voted for all of the incumbent elected officials this year because I believe they are doing a great job.

When the city was faced with a budget deficit, the staff - in some cases lead by Constitutional Officers worked to cut the budget.

I'm glad I voted for Hazelwood, Ferguson, Williams and Isaacs.
