OF COURSE THE UNION WILL CHALLENGE

Up in DC the Public School System’s teacher tree was shaken and 241 alleged bad apples fell out. And it is believed another 700 school employees will drop out if their performance doesn’t improve. This happened when a new evaluation system was introduced. No fuss, no bother, just let the new method determine who is and who ain’t qualified. The total number of DC teachers and employees is not available so what percent the “aints” represent is NA. Nor do we know if dealing with student discipline (mob-control) was a factor. At any rate the Teacher’s Union will no doubt fight tooth and nail for the status quo. And if the new method of evaluation is determined to be fair, equitable, and accepted, the Washington Mall will be surrounded with teachers making far more noise than the National Tea Party. However, the quality teachers will rejoice. As it is now a teacher is a teacher in Suffolk and in too many Public School systems. This can easily be determined by the data referring to honest SOL tests, truancy and graduation rates.

Students in many schools are being put on the Honor Roll just for good behavior. A third of Kings Fork 2010 graduating seniors (roughly 60% of their Freshmen class) were on the Prncipal's List or Honor Roll. Because of teacher-administrators undermining actions and disregard for their job responsibility, I have as much respect for them as I do a newspaper reporter or lawyer. Another dose of Ritalin for the teachers please.

Our educational system is broke like every institution in which government, at any level, is in any way involved. Lower level bueaucrats mess up every good idea and slow up progress like a fat cow on the railroad tracks. Attempt to weed out even one of them and the rest defend his/her incompetency fearing they might be forced to actually go to work.

The big push is for the November mid-term election. The simple minded will think that because the republicans have gained seats all is well. Quite the contrary the leftist news media is still well in place. The courts are packed with liberals making up laws as they go. Academia and the entertainment industry are solidly to the left. Our Constitution is under attack and steadily losing its significance. Our system of government has been so badly compromised with imbedded socialists willing to do anything to justify their obtuse reasoning for existing that it will take decades to ferret them out and undo the damage. However time is a luxury we do not have. There will be more Obamas to carry the torch of the left and further damage this country as we slide deeper into a government dependent uneducated society. There is no option left but for each state to opt out. Like an eaglet peering down from its nest high above the forest floor, it's time Virginians to learn to fly on your own.

Pock I still believe the photograph is the City Budget Officer Ms. Seward after hearing about Secretary of Defense Gates pull the plug on the Joint Forces Command. If I were her I would ask to have fire alarms charged the same way city fees for burgler alarms. It won't be long before Northern Suffolk has a rash of inexplicable fires. Chief Outlaw better get his new firetrucks up there PDQ.

Sorry, but testing teachers is not as easy as it may seem. Those who bring up students from zero to 40 are just as good as those that bring them from 60 to 100 (maybe better, far better) but they would flunk this test.

Lets stop blaming the teachers union for everything and start changing our congressional representatives to people that will do things to change the system.
