Chesapeake seems to be able to be open and transparent, however Suffolk's Mayor can't take that step even though she ran on that platform. Chesapeake is a fast growing thriving community with major commercial investment, while Suffolk languishes in comparison. Anyone that cares to take a short country drive through Greenbriar in Chesapeake will immediately see the difference. Suffolk has and will continue to suffer from the public perception that it is rife with government corruption at many levels. Until that is changed there is little hope for progress.

From what I gather, the United States Of America has suspended the 1st amendment.
Why should our local morons be any different.
The question is folks.Whose government is this anyway and why is openess and tansparency so hard?
This is ransparency as thick as is what is in your septic tank.

How can a general report to city council be part of a closed session? Based on leaks from MArket Street this smells to high h-ll. We're counting on the SNH's gizzled veteran investigative reporters to find out why.

Are the Council members sworn to secrecy. If one of them talks, even to his wife, children or interested constituents, what is the penalty? Is this more of the mayor's open and transparent government? These tactics are exactly why educated citizens want less secrecy and more opportunities to be in on discussions from the beginning. Our mayor delights in the fact of our discomfort. She is no asset to Suffolk but her supporters have convinced her she is.

There are more than a few things being held by the public that would discomfort the Mayor if it was released. Unlike the Mayor the public does not take delight in the subject. She can play her games, the public can play their's.

Breaking news from the Newspaper that cares about Suffolk; It's hot outside. Wow, they sure don't miss much do they?

Further braking news: The hot air is coming from the mayor and her boys on council. Suffolk is suffering under this heatwave due to the hot air from our mayor and ther is no end in sight!

Has our mighty mouse mayor ever allowed anything not to be done in her secret sessions? I do not believe so. What ever happened to open and transparent government, ms mayor? I would trust her about as much as expecting a good show from an 80 year old pole dancer!

It looks to me that the only way to change the politics of Suffolk is to keep an eye on these clowns and make a case to lock them up for their illegal deeds and deals. Who has the really good mud on them?
