A MAJORITY NOWADAYS MEANS NOTHING BUT GOVERNMENT DOES

I am motivated by Greg Cowles’ brave opinion in the SNH where he is states his objection to the meaningful word “Christmas” being pushed aside by liberals in favor of the word “holiday” that is so non-descriptive it is unworthy of a capitalized first letter. It is still the Halloween Parade, Easter Parade, and Fourth of July Parade. Changing the name of the Christmas Parade is nothing more than cowardly bowing to the progressives who want us all to avoid any connection to Christ. The same people want “prayer” tossed out of all public events, schools, and weddings will be next. My faithful dictionary was copyrighted in 1916 when “Christmas” was an acceptable word in almost any language. But for very definite reasons it is being pried out of the American lexicon.

Who, for example, in this city, decided to make the change and why? Was it because other nearby cities had already capitulated and we dared not be a holdout? Did the city manager decide, or perhaps the city attorney fearful of the tsunami caused by liberals? Was it on the city agenda and decided during a closed meeting or was part of a taped Council meeting? Do you remember having a say in the matter? Perhaps it was just a decision made by whoever puts the Christmas parade together. Some of us would like to know.  And I'd bet the majority will still call it Christmas Parade.

Why expect more from a local government that stands for nothing at all except to get those that support staff re-elected year after year? This bunch is driving our good Christian City into the ground! and for what? A few more years making good salaries while they seel thier souls?

The present City Manager and her cronnie staff have doen more harm to our community than anyone will ever know. Anyone out there in blog land have an idea how to get rid of them?

Here is how I feel about this city and the way they choose to be politically correct. If this city cannot call this parade what it is, a Christmas Parade, I suggest that Christmas Vacation is tied to CHRISTMAS…For those who don’t like to call the parade a Christmas Parade or having a Christmas tree etc etc on public property such as city hall or even a school they are not entitled to taking a or by having a CHRISTMAS VACATION with or with out pay.
Why be hypocrites and be rewarded for it? If you don’t like all things that go with Christmas…then don’t celebrate it by taking a vacation for it.Hell while we are at it. Lets shut down the city or schools to celebrate MLK Day for he was a reverend who spoke of God in his speeches. Lets cancel Easter vacation and Halloween since it is tied to a “religion”…Oh and don’t forget SAINT PATRICK’S day….since its based on saints. Lets not leave out St. Patricks day since the clover is a symbol of the cross.

I offer to the city "leaders" of Suffolk and Washington a MERRY CHRISTMAS with a hearty middle finger. I hope it offends you.

Even mealy mouth, no guts merchants call their "sales' HOLIDAY SALES and you better dig deep so see if they are actual sales or contrived. I saw a shirt this week that was as honest as some merchants can be. In much smaller print it read, "This sale price is 50% off what future prices will be.
Gosh, I could be saving thousands.

If Muslims can pray on Madison Avenue, why are Christians banned from praying in public and erecting religious displays on their holy days? It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having 'In God! We Trust' on our money and having 'God' in the Pledge of Allegiance. I believe it's time we stand up for what we believe.

anon 7:12. Speaking of retail sales. Dont you know that the tree in the mall is Christmas tree, not a holiday tree and that Santa is not a secular character, he is Saint Nick. No, Anon not anymore - that tree in the mall is not a Christmas tree, but The Conifer of Harmonious Diversity & Inclusiveness, and Santa is not Saint Nicholas, but a sexually polymorphous community activist -
When I'm offered the generic "happy holidays" remark, I usually ask, "which one?" I love to see the clerk swallowing her gum
To the liberals who are pale, boring and want to decide what is right for us all i say:

Happy Holidays

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious, secular persuasions and or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
Just to show you I wish no harm to any of you, I will be sending all of you morons a gross of incadescent light bulbs.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Well said and it truely defines the spineless manner that our present city administration functions under. They spend countless hours pandering to those in the SCCA that purport to be saving and highlighting our local heritage, while they cast aside the most cheerished traditions we hold for the expedient need to be politically correct. This ongoing attitude that says the celibration of Christmas is not to be supported over the demands of the vocal minority that want to control this country, only shows that we have non-leaders that want to control all for their own needs and benefit. Where is our Mayor in all this? She should recognize that we all look to her for leadership and this is perhaps the right time and issue for her to correct this lacking administration. The city manager is without a doubt, the defining person that shows how poorly our city and community is run. From a true lack of insightful leadership on zoning by allowing the four farms deal in the southend of town, to the lack of support now for our Christmas traditions.

Please explain how such conduct warrents our support of such people and why the MAyor has not come down on the side of leadership and demanded that this foolishness being expoused by the Assistant city manager for no Christmas Parade, to satisfy some over the majority interests and traditions? This is a sad commentary on our local government and denigration of our city and community. What does the Mayor stand for in this vital debate?

Do you suppose there is one person at City Hall, or a Council member with what it takes to reverse the political correctness. It is an opportunity for Suffolk to make some waves and get attention for refusing to follow the crowd. Fight the many progressives and liberals instead of bowing to their every suggestion. Kick them the hell out of our schools and politics.

The qustion was asked, where is the mayor in all of this?
She is leading in the style of being MIA, absent or what ever you want to call it. She is letting her minions run the city. Her appointees not the elected one. She is ruling as is Obama is in DC. This way she can bemore inclined to say present, but she doesnt have the respect for the people who elected her to say that. She is an absent as a leader, a politician, and as a person.
She shows up for a photo ops so we are reminded she is still around. Great, but she is still missing.
It looks as if our CM is running the entire city, the way she wants to and the mayor is a figure head only. I am suprised that we didnt see the Christmas parade become the Kawanza Parade. I see how the
CM and our mayor are governing. Its no different than the way Obama and liberals are governing this country. Our country has major problems both domestically and internationally because of their governing style and the city has major internal problems because of the way our CM and mayor are governing.

Flat out; who is the jackass coward that renamed the Christmas parade to an all-encompassing word, holiday? Which official or brilliant committee decided for 82,000 people that live here voiceless? Whomever it was figured we must join the weak minded liberal progressives who want God out of our lives. Tell me why it was necessary to do this, what simpleton decided to be offended by the word Christmas? Was it Judas?

I caught up with Curtiss Milteer at Walmart and asked if he knew who at city hall decided to go with Holiday instead of Christmas Parade. I'm not sure of his answer but he waved his hands back and forth in front of him looking like a player waiting for a basket ball pass and saying, "it's mess,it's a mess. It could mean he doesn't know or want to. I was sitting on a bench visiting with one of his constituents and the exchange with Curtiss prompted her to complain that all these check out girls were saying, "Have a happy Holiday.

Why would you expect an answer any different than what Mr. Milteer gave you; as he is really unsure if it is December or July. I am sure he went away wondering why you were making such a big deal out of trying to rename the fourth of July, Christmas. With such leaders serving year after year is there any reason to believe that things will get any better? The Mayor is not much better, but she knows that it is December and want you to believe it is July!

What a sad state of affairs we see in our beloved City. And now the Director of the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts wants us all to believe that they are just fine and making money, if only they can continue to get that public money from the city trough, forever. With all this Mr. Pocklington, you really do not need to keep putting up all the internet stories about President Obama, we have our own sad saga going on right here in little peanut city.

FK, The true fact is that they who are all on council including the mayor know when November rolls around. Its the only month they actually care about.

Maricris Farrington, a bartender at the Constant’s Wharf Bar and Grill at the Hilton Garden Inn, should be terminated for her politically incorrect language when explaining why she made a gingerbread house for the hotel.

“I do it just for fun,” Farrington said. “I miss home at Christmas time, and I love doing this for everybody.” You can see for yourself, she uttered the banned word, "Christmas."

While you are out running around take a deep look at the business establishments that are using happy holidays in their message. They are not getting my dollar now or will they later in the year when it comes to big ticket items likes a vehicle, furniture etc etc.

The cowards at city hall have not offered any explanation for kneeling down to the Progressives, liberals, atheists, and political correctness. Some individual or committee decided to call the Christmas Parade the holiday parade. So who complained to city hall about the use of a word that has been with us and every other country in the world for centuries? I am ashamed of Suffolk city council members who have uttered not a sentence.
