ARE MANY CITY GIFTS TO PEOPLE THAT DON'T NEED IT

From the SNH

"We can always use additional finances right now,” said Leila Rice, community and media relations manager for the organization. “We are currently serving about 250 families with 500 children on any given day.”Requests for shelter typically increase in the wintertime for a number of reasons. The colder weather drives people inside. Higher utility bills strain the budgets of those already at risk for homelessness, perhaps causing them to lose their homes or apartments.

“We’re turning away about 300 families a month just because of finances,” Rice said. “We’re seeing, because of the economy, a much greater need than ever before.”

Yea that hope and change that many thought was going to save them is a bust just like Obama is. Merry Christmas from the liberal/progressives...

This is a very interesting issue. We all hear about the many millions spent on the SCCS, but one must wonder what good could be done for the real needs of Suffolk if only ten percent of this amount was given to an organization that could really have an impact on our city like this charity.

Talk about such priorities and one really has to wonder what our council thinks when it really counts?

Time to pull the plug on the SCCA and pony up for real needs like shelter for cold shivering kids! What say-yeh Madame Mayor and the band of her seven disfuntional elves? If we cannot care for the most needy in our City, how do you claim that such spending like the SCCA makes our community better?

Just a few questions, that need to be answered.

Santa:Where is it in the Constitution that the gov't has to supply housing? electricity, food, clothing gas, transportation? Are they next? Does the city give public funds to the Cheer Fund?
Exactly how many millions has the SCCA received? You use the word millions like Obama and politicans spend on pork barrell projects.Lets pull the plug on some of the pork being spent up north to help private investment. How many privately funded projects has the city provided for road or building improvents as to help or assist ones private business to propsper and or possibly fail? How many private investments received preferred tax rates?
How much have you given and or provided for the people that you think city goverment should be taking care of? Why do churches and other religious groups spend millions overseas? Why do we continue to send aid to those who would harm us.? Just a few questions that need to be answered as well?
I will repeat the one question on your statement on millions? How many millions have been spent? What would be 10%? 10% of what and how many millions?
You have the a concept of ideas and thoughts based on very little knowledge other than you pay taxes. Swell!

Speaking of the SCCA, what about all of the income they get from "Sponsors" reecognized in their programs and website for this year. Also, did the mayor and Mr Parr pay for their program ads this year, or are they "comped" as a not so subtle inducement for the "annual City subsidy" that may actually exceed all the program royalties paid to the entertainers this season.

Ironically, some of the "culture divas" still supporting this disaster have no ideas all of the "culture" and events available in nearby communities this season.

What "hold" does the SCCA have that encourages Council and especially the Manager to give so blindly when other organizations are leverging their assets so much better and with much greater local public support.

One sponsor the SCCA brags about is Portfolio Magazine, which has been defunct for months before the new annual program was printed.

Just another example of the SCCA staff trying to "hype" the sponsor list to trick the public and even most of its fairly weak directors into thinking the staff is finding more and more support when it appears to be just padding the lists and not dropping old sponsors of year old or more shows.

Would not be possible if sponsor money were monitored on a current basis, but Mrs Martin as Treasurer probably is needed to take charge here over uncontrollable staff that needs to account this and lack of ticket sales with more directness to Mrs Martin and her board.

The point is that it would be both more moral and a better investment to spend on the needy in Suffolk not the needless like the SCCA. I agree with Santa that the SCCA gots to much of our money and for no real good. The many millions already spent on the SCCA shold be wrote off and we end the subsidy now! The Gravy Train should be derailed and if they must spend Santa has it right, spend it on the poor or even better yet give it back to them who it was taken, the taxpayers of Suffolk.

I would also note that Norfolk is getting rid of their useless City Manager for Christmas, so Santa can we get rid of our's too? Please!

QUESTION:How many of MILLIONS?
QUESTION:How many of MILLIONS?
Why should the city do what the federal govt has done since the inception of "The Great Society" that spends money that encourages others to beomce dependent on govt and think they are entitiled to be taken care of?
Now again: How Many of MILLIONS HAVE BEEN SPENT ON THE SCCA?

The figure right now wasted upon the SCCA is around 7.85 million dollars of PUBLIC MONEY, to answer the question of someone that is hinting at some other issue. Where do we get these people?

That is in fact MILLIONS. (Souce for this fact is the Budget Director.)

It was not a trick question. It is and was a legigt question. Now stop trying to spin it into something else. Many folks just assume to take the attitude of being one of those folks that you refer to where do these "folks" come from.If one doesnt know, you ask.Now I ask the question regarding the comment about the city offering 10% of that amount being spent on the less fortunate and on those who think they should be taken care of by the govt? I bet you wouldnt agree with that type of spending either. Feel free to answer that and the other questions presented.

I really have to agree with Santa that the questions posed by the one who will not state their name or even a real question must be stupid or posing questions just to make some hidden point.

The City spends many MILLIONS on a farce public need like th SCCA and can't even help the Children's Center. It is not the fact that MILLIONS are spend for an old bitty's club, but that kids in need get so much less. How is that good or proper city policy. That is the point and Santa made it quite clear and well.

Oh now its stupid for one not to use their name? And yours is what? There is no Santa's helper. Santa's name is what? There was a questioned seveal times. It was asked and no one would address it. Finally this fictious person Santa spoke up. The answer is not being disputed. Information was requested and it was provided. I attemted to obtain the answer from CH but no one there that I spoke to after several transfers. I also called teh SCCA and received no answer. The ones you would think that could provide the answer at CH were already gone celebrating their CHRISTMAS vacation even after they decided that the parade was no longer to be called a CHRISTMAS parade.Hypocrital morons.Oh if I am stupid for asking then you are ignorant of you own remarks as Santa's Helper and criticing me of what your are guilty of.

Santa's Helper said...

Well I guess if you are claiming not to be stupid, you must be posing the questions for another purpose. Explain what that might be?

Or is it to attempt to contrive an issue to divert attention? Seems like what the city always does.

I dont work for the city thus there is no diversion. Asking a question is diversion? Lack of responding could be considered a diversion but then again the city leaders are so open and transparent arent they? I do see that the questions I asked go ignored. Especially the one on taking 10% of the "actual" cost of tax dollars and donate it to the "needy"

The big question lately is, did the budget for salt and street cleaning suddenly become part of the city's million dollar plus giveaway program to non-profits. North Suffolk streets were buried and no plowing was evident in most side streets until about noon on Monday. So what shall we expect in the coming days? Another rah-rah-rah story from the Editorial Staff of the SNH on the great job by Suffolk Public Works, or a more realisic they screwed up viewpoint. Don't hold your breath, the SNH was bought and paid for by the city administration ages ago. If the Director of PW was employed in the private sector his head would be handed to him by his employer aka the ineffective affirmative action idol, Selena Cuffee-Glenn. An admission of responsibility would be appropriate at this time Madame Manager.
