SAY IT ISN'T SO

It just can’t be true, our new seasoned Police Chief lose his cool, impossible. Would he risk a bad image of fair city by refusing permission for human runners to raise money for a worthy cause when just a few weeks ago we had hordes of noisy motorcycles polluting the air, something runners never do? Not likely. If there was a mistake on the permit request wouldn’t a friendly police staffer merely pick up the phone? Our pleasant Chief sick and tired of anything, c’mon, you don’t make chief unless you can suppress such feelings. Yell on the phone and make reference to “outsiders” as though there is a high wall seperating the two cities; are you kidding, couldn’t have happened. No sane man would risk having the mayor come down on him for having jeopardised a city-to -city relationship. Was one of the two on the phone disengenous, or is it more likely their version of the verbal exchange has been altered deliberately? Interesting, and would be more so if phone calls were recorded.  Two questions arise;  was there really no response from both the Mayor and City Manager.....leaving the Chief to spin in the wind. And is Chris Jones that potent? Whom did he call and what did he say? Ah, the transparency ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

You can bet that the statement that the City Manager took no action is absoultly true. This person is the worst City Manager we have ever had and it just keeps getting more so as she hangs on for more and more time on the public dole. If this city is to improve, we need to encourage her to move on and find a better job outside Suffolk.

If we had a real City Manager with a centilla of sense and leadership, she would have intervined to get this right and move on. NO, she has to play the part of the high and mighty, to good to deal with the small people.

While things where bad a few years ago, they are much worse now. We have a legion of spiteful little people that have forgot the primary job in public employment. That is they work for the people, not their own petty pride. The new chief of police is right at home with these small and spitefull minds in charge of our city. How long do we suffer under another idiot is anyone's guess?

A problem that the chief should focus on is how and why the name of an informant was given to the bad-guy with his charging sheet and someone got shot as a result. This is a critical lapse of managment integirty that shold demand his resignation on its won merit! If he can not handle the job of chief, then get out and let us hire a proper and professional Police Chief!

Was the chief on the email list of David Porno Sylvia?. The poster mentions that this is a critical lapse of managment integirty that should demand his resignation on its won merit! whiskey Tango Foxtrot, If Porno King Sylvia didnt you think the "chief" is? He has learned well by example set forth from the DA's office, the sheriff's,from council chambers, the school board members and the candidates seeking seeking positions during this election. There are no more surprises in Suprising Suffolk. Its still the same status quo when it comes to the T&C's of those with and in power.

Editor's note: A correction for this story was published Nov. 2: In an article on Page 1 of Saturday’s Hampton Roads section (“Race organizer: Suffolk chief tried to run us out of town ”), Ann Hupp, co-owner of KaleRunning.com, said a conversation with Suffolk police Chief Thomas Bennett about providing security at a race took place and that Bennett “yelled and screamed.” Bennett actually spoke to Hupp’s business partner, R.P. Kale, not to Hupp directly. Kale described Bennett’s comments as “very stern.”

Well, well, well looks like our veteran Chief was telling the truth. He never screamed at this lady. Never even talked to her! Another smear job by the pilot.

I guess "very stern" means saying no to a group that cannot get their act together. Keep up the good work Chief. About time we had a chief with a backbone that holds people accountable.
