FROM AN OPINION PIECE SENT TO THE SNH

Is it the opinion of City Council that there is no need to manage the managers? What incentives do they have to act in an economically sound way, with an eye toward saving money not wasting it? The water quality report could have been done on an 8-by-11 sheet of white paper and posted on the city website, saving the city a lot of money. If 1 percent of our citizens actually read the report and understand it, I will be amazed, so sending this egotistical piece of garbage to folks implies that we have more money than we know what to do with and that when it runs out then we’ll simply grab more from the dumb citizens.

Can council really justify giving these two people a bonus? For what? I believe their job performance should be reviewed immediately and the results published on the city website for we, their real employers, to be able to measure council’s ability to manage our city. I also would like to know why we need both a mayor and a city manager. That is another example of a redundancy that we can ill afford in this city. If we cannot do a better job of managing our money and having capable managers, then when it is time to evaluate the job performance of City Council, its members should not be surprised by the outcome of that job review. The citizens of Suffolk have reached the end of their rope.

Mr. Millan where were you when members of the community railed against tax hikes after double digit assessment increases? Why didn't we hear from you when million dollar bonuses and multi million dollar monuments to egoes like the Center for Cultural Arts, Phoenix Bank, Garden Hilton among the countless other examples of municipal waste were approved?

Did you just move here or were you in a coma these past years? More likely when times were good you didn't care and now like the grasshopper and the ant you are out in the cold wondering what happened. If you have one ounce of spine run for your borough's city council seat.

The Ant, one would think you would appreciate more people speaking up. So what are you? Part of the problem or part of the solution?

Perhaps if "IS" had been created by Pock a year earlier we might have consolidated more pressure against those who were so positive those projects they would never become white elephants. Managers of Suffolk appears to be our highest level of easy spenders.

Anon 3:37 the message to Mr. Millan is to get involved and remove the Democrat Party Big Spenders at city council. Writing a letter to the SNH is a waste of time. The jury is still out on Duman, but his comment about garbage fees being lower was disturbing. The correct answer should have been that we MUST reduce the size of city government and cut spending before raising taxes and fees. The winter of national hardship is fast approaching and the grasshoppers don't get it.

What has I S ever done to help? I don't know of a thing. Wait they do give the people who want to bitch and not do anything about it a place to vent. I see nothing at all positive about this blog except for the fact that it shows how ignorant some people are.

You study IS in detail anough to judge it and its contributers/readers yet insist that anyone who reads and follows it as much as you do must be "ignorant."

Rather than answer you and compare what you have accomplished anonymously to what IS has done for literally tens of thousands of readers, let me respond to your comment with a challenge.

Even though I'n not at all an "insider" to IS, I promise you I'll try to respond to your inane comments if you can prove you have more IQ points than teeth. If not, hopefully you'll stop gumming offense twattle.

So I see by your answer you have none. Not one thing you can name that I S has ever done to change, help or even improve anyone's life. I got he answer I thought I would. Sorry I don't have an over inflated ego like you but my I Q is 137.

Talk about juvenile prattle! 137 my foot! And I'm a member of SEAL Team 6.

But pretty sure we would have had the City's new Social Services Center at the corner of Hwy 460 and 5 Forks Road a couple of years ago if IS hadn't sounded the alarm. That's what City Staff wanted--regardless of the fact that most of the people served by such a Center had no way to get to it out there!

Hey 137 IS brough up the issue of priveldged city employees enjoying a special pension plan that others could not participate in. IS brought to light the glaring indiffierent approach of the city communications office concerning "media releses". IS revealed the City Manager hides documents under "working papers" in FOIA requests to the public. Need we go further??????

I find it alway interesting, when one has to rely upon the cliam of a fictious levels of brain power to make their point, Sir 137. This soulds like the City Manager claiming that since she is a highly paid city employee, she is automaticly worthy of being believed and rendered consideration at will. What hog-wash. What brazen claims and what frauds.

If the SNH Foodie is in search for a hamburger he'll have to go elsewhere because he works in a food desert. It's surprising that in a region denoted as a food desert waistlines and bootys are balooning like never before. Even the aisels in the local Walmart have been widen to allow high torque electric carts to move the morbid obease. Friends forget the comfortable blue jeans and slip on a pair of XXXL sweat pants.
