FINALLY THEY CAUGHT UP TO "IS"

Two fine local newspapers finally got the messagee that Andy Damiani is the greatest contributer to what success Suffolk has enjoyed. He has never stopped believing in Suffok's eventual triumph over last place on the list of original nearby jursisdictions. And he backed his ideas with cash on the barrelhead gathering realestate as it became available, always willing to take risk to prevent Suffolk from looking empty, always prodding Council and City Staff for changes in codes or laws he felt impeded progress. He spent hours preparing his RoundTable talk show. To this day, he is 93, he walks Main and Washington looking for opportunities to improve his city. Not bad for a man who came to town with a Washette. Now he owns a good part of the buildings. Mr. Suffolk now needs a cane but that's not a sign he is giving up. And if he did who would grab the reins?

We miss the TV shows you did with Andy and your articles. You know Andy better than most. He really tries to keep Suffolk on the right course and will until he passes on to a great reward in heaven. Give him 20 years up there and he will have that place problem free. Too many devils working against him down here. And keep up your hard work

Is Andy 93? Virginian Pilot says 89.

If I understand the post, Andy owns buildings in downtown and wants the city to do more in and around his property. Now how is that any diffrent from any other developer or commercial property holder?

Will somebody (besides Andy) please define the boundaries of a Downtown Suffolk we can agree and be proud of? Is it in Harborview, Chuckatuck, Whaleyville, Driver or Holland?
