COMING TO SUFFOLK ???

If you are over-due with taxes they are looking for you via two ordinary cars with special scanners that can read city your license plate and compare it with their list of “deadbeats.” If a red flag pops up you can expect a heavy boot on your wheels AND A DEMAND for taxes due plus 20 percent. You will also pay a fee for the boot. This new tax will be for those living in any of the nearby jurisdictions. If you live any in any of them you will pay but they find it parked in Suffolk, you will pay. Will this strong method of collecting come to Suffolk? “It’s just a very efficient way to collect delinquent taxes,” Suffolk city treasurer said. “They’re having great success with it.” Vehicles whose owners don’t pay up by the end of the day get towed, and the owner gets slapped with towing and storage fees, as well. If they never produce the money, their vehicle gets sold at auction.

Instead of a pro-business community friendly government we have a pay or get out mentality on Market Street. This is yet another example of government biting the hand that feeds them. Government will not stop growing and taking more of what little we have left to keep on growing. Selena needs a new car baby, and she wants to buy it on our tab!

Why not? It creates at least two new governemtnt jobs.I am sure that there is some city official who's spouse, cousin etc etc who could use a job.
I suggest that Ron Williams should be one of the "invesigators" who could man a car.Oh wait a moment, that too might be above his pay scale.Answer in 1...2...3

It may be beneith City Treasurer Ron William's pay scale but not Mrs. Williams. If the Suffolk Common-minded Attorney's Office had a shred of fiscal accountability she would be off their payroll and booting tax deadbeat's cars.

Boots: You can expect a response from Ron Williams and C.Phillips Ferguson in 1...2...3

Maybe the city could turn this into a reality TV show and carry it on the cities cable show instead of airing council meetings. It would be more exciting than watching Milteer sleeping and our two mayors looking to grab more camera time.

Reloading I like the idea of a TV sitcom. IFC (FX) program "Wilfred" would be worthy of considering for Suffolk Un-Real TV. It's about a man being a dog with a very strange demented personnality. Suffolk could do better having someone dressed like a kangaroo booting cars on North Main Street. The kids would love it and who would hurt a dog even if it is booting your car. The advertising revenue would offset city government's fast growing deficit and the City Treasurer wouldn't have to work so hard.

Of course the city will have to buy two new cars for the scanners. Then hire two spouses or other family members of council or the SB. Doesnt our other mayor Salena have a member that is "qualified"? A cousin? A cousin of a cousin on her dads side of the family. A friend?

Reloading I'm afraid that if you wish to know the level of nepotism at the city manager's office you will have to file a FOIA request, pay the costs and await the usual working papers response. Selena does not want to hear from the little people.

Rumor is she threaten to quit if she didn't get her 4 million budget surplus. Amazing how our budget officer seemed to have overlooked such a large amount during the budget hearings and WHY is she still employed?

What's your gripe? Suffolk is not using this program. Besides, most of these people have not paid taxes in years. I'd figure you'd be happy to see those deadbeats pay their fair share for services they use.
