Deborah Wahlstrom is president of Successline Inc., a company that provides training and consulting services to schools and school districts in the areas of student assessment, data-based school improvement, instructional strategies, and curriculum alignment. Her practical hands-on workshops have been highly acclaimed. As a past winner of two National School Boards Association awards for 100 Best Curriculum Ideas in the country, Deborah continues to design and deliver only the highest-quality training. She has also received awards for her work in research and evaluation. In addition to numerous other honors and recognitions, Deborah received a Distinguished Faculty Award from the Center for Global Business and Executive Education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
Before opening her own business, Deborah taught at the middle school level for Norfolk and Virginia Beach City Public Schools; served as a science specialist at the elementary level for Virginia Beach City Public Schools; served as Director of Research, Evaluation, and Communications for Portsmouth Public Schools; and served as a regional staff development facilitator for the Virginia Department of Education. Dr. Wahlstrom earned her doctorate in Urban Services (1988) from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

I have no idea whether Ms. Wahlstrom is interested in filling this void but Suffolk teachers, parents, students, and citizens could do no better than selecting her to fill this job! We desperately need new blood, new ideas, new energy and Deb brings a wealth of experience on both what works and what doesn't. Clearly what Suffolk has been doing for the past decade hasn't worked and our best and brightest students are being punished for it. Most don't even realize the disadvantage they have until they enroll at the next level and have to struggle to keep up with students who came from stronger and more competitive academic programs. And it's just too hard for many to climb that mountain and either they drop out or have to select less competitive and rewarding curricula. If Ms. Wahlstrom is interested, Suffolk would be handed a huge opportunity. We've tried the easy way and every experiment in between and got nowhere. Is Suffolk willing to make a commitment to real change with someone who understands just how hard to push the system in order to make progress without frustrating people trying to learn new ways that will make the most of what they have to offer? Don't blow it Suffolk!
Well the resume must say now only liscensed superintindents need apply? What are they scared of? Finding some one who could make a positive influence? Somebody who would expose the numb brains on the baord? Some one who could make Liverman look worse than what he was?
