WE'RE GONNA DIE ?

There is a plan to seek volunteers on a day in May to rid the city of litter. Better we equip them with Ozone filters because the American Lung Association gave Suffolk an “F” in ozone air pollution. Like our city tax and spend department our air is not making the grade. But what does this group of words in this their 12th report tell us? “Suffolk was the only city in Hampton Roads where the organization gathered enough data in order to grade it.” They go on with a detailed explanation of how the air is tested but should we jump into action before we know how surrounding cities rate? And if we start pulling ozone out of our air envelope what’s to prevent it leaking in from bordering cities? We see no need to panic. The stink from local pig farms is no more and Franklin shut down the paper mill but apparently those items have no connection with ozone. Williams recommends anyone concerned about air conditions should contact their state legislators and tell them about their concerns.  I wish I knew what our concerns are. Do you?

Ozone depletion environmental issues - 90% of earth's ozone is concentrated in the Stratosphere. Stratospheric ozone protects the earth from potentially damaging doses of ultraviolet radiation. With the technological advances in the past century various man made substances have caused deletion of ozone from the Stratosphere. Depletion of ozone in the stratophere could lead to significant increases in UV radiation reaching the Earth's surface, which could in turn lead to adverse human and animal health effects, as well as ecosystem impacts. Climate changes and global warming may lead to global catastrophe endangering millions of people and animal lives. For more information about Ozone depletion, visit US EPA. An excellent article about Ozone hole, explains why and how ozone holes are formed, and why we should be worried about these holes.

Another deep cut into Suffolk's distinction of being one of America's best small cities to live in. In as far as holes are concerned, the only ones we need closed are the ones belonging to city council and the city manager. Does anyone know if stupidity generates ozone?

Thank you Al Gore. Remember the Concorde was going to cause global cooling and openings in he stratosphere.

Ozone is created in many ways. Exhaust from gas and diesel is one way and based upon the skyrocketing price there will be less ozone generated. Bottomline more sunscreen, melanoma and the eventual the distruction of life on earth after it has been frozen, scorched then obliterated by objects from space.

Why worry about this they are killing us all with higher and higher taxes.

What the h-ll is that stink coming from the southeast? Some say it's a fire in North Carolina, others think it's SPSA's dump and yet other believe it to be emminating from MArket Street....you decide which is most applicable.
