C'MON CITY FINANCE PEOPLE, HELP US OUT WITH NUMBERS

According to Suffolk supplied numbers there are 29,993 Households in Suffolk with an average of   2.6 persons including the little babies whose diapers have not yet been declared trash or recyclable paper. Using $17. as the monthly cost for this this wonderful program it can generate half a million each month or a little over  six million  for each year.  Seems that the recycled  materials are worth a ton of money and that many  blue cows will produce many tons of very valuable goods. Who gets it  is the simple question.  "IS" will wait a reasonable length of time for answer from the city. Most city officials deny reading "IS" but we know better.  Any Council member will do.

I suggest IS send a letter or email to the Department of Budget and Strategic Planning and ask for a response to this question.

I am sure a member of that department would provide a response.

We see this morning the evacuation of the Outer Banks and portions of Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Portsmouth. Many will be transiting through our city on Routes 460, 58, 32, 17 and 10. Best thing to do is stay off the road and hunker down. The Kings Highway Bridge would have been a big help to residents however thanks to our myopic council we will have no other alternate route. It would be interesting to see how many evacuees think the bridge is still there.

After this weekend weather event we will see and hear from council all the political back scratching of what a great job she or he did. We will hear how Ms. Seward saved the day, the wonderful Public Works staff and the bold leadership of Linda and Selena. Frankly speaking it's their job they wanted it, and get to enjoy all the benefits and perks. So giving up a weekend to be on the job is not too much to ask nor expect. So please quit your whining and get back to work.

To get an answer you must apply for FOIA. The city council would have it no other way. Remeber open and transparent?

Based on their prior performance history, the city will survive less local govt influence. Than what they want you to believe. The egoe of our elected public servants is more than those common folks type lesaders we have locally. For they know what is best for us all. What a sad state of affairs the so called leaders have become.

No one will respond. Even if one files for FOIA.And of course if there would be a investigation by the DA'S office, it would report there is no proof of any wrong doing.

The budget lady and City Manager were told of a 4 million surplus in Feb. Their displeasure resulted in someone having to leave as they did not want the public to know. It took them five months and an independent audit to find out "the someone" was right. After 4 previous finance directors that lasted an average of 6 months someone needs to get the sense that the inter conflict and unhealthy working environment at city hall is detrimental.

The unhealthy work environment is directly a result of the Mayor's meddeling for politics and the Manager's mindless response to such demands. We need a new manager first and then a new mayor next year. Johnson is politics all the time and the manager is about raising revenues to support political spending so the mayor can preen in the political light all the time.

Suffolk is a sick community and it is suffering by a total lack of any leadership. The borrowing rate may be good, but the way it was done is sick and wrong. The disaster of the Johnson years are showing and families are suffering in a big way.

Thanks to the GD Swamp fire and Hurricane Irene food and hotel tax revenue in the city are up. This is great news now the city can borrow more. The Office of Tourism will be crowing about the great job they did and demand more for their budget.

When OBL took down the towers the idea was to bankrupt this country. You know what? It only took 10 years, but he got what he wanted. Even here in little ole Suffolk we see local politicians thinking that spending will resolve our problems. So the question is who's the smarter man OBL or Obama, or Obama or OBL. They both are getting what they wanted for America.
