CITY MANAGER NOT TALKING BUT DALE WALKER IS

Quit or be fired, your choice, Said Selena Cuffee Glenn and don’t expect to know why, just pack and git. That’s about the way the ex-Finance Director Dale M. Walker sees it. Nice way to dispose of the $113,000 position held since April 2009, Even the public deserves more than that since we had no part of the hiring but we did pay his salary and great benefits. How could the tight-lipped manager have made the mistake of hiring him in the first place if she would handle the dismissal in such a crude manner, have him ushered out of the building without his personnel effects. If there was an error in judgment it was hers. It is no wonder that Walker was stunned and flabbergasted. Even the city spokes-person, Debbie George was speechless. Surely the citizens are due a little more “openness and transparency” than that. I remember the mayor promising that would be the first order of business.

I beg to differ on this. The CM is the mayor. She acts like it, she thinks like she is the mayor. I think Johnson needs to watch her back. I will bet right now that when the mayor, I mean the CM goes to fill the vacant position dont be surprised to see the position go to a black female. This is going to get good and I have plenty of popcorn and my favorite beverage ready. This is just another episode of As The Stomach Turns Suffolk Style.

I said this before and it seserves to be said again! I just left City Hall a few minutes ago after talking with some employees in the Treasurer's Office and they said the Director of Finance was getting a real chewing out by the insecure City Manager they all work for (not with) and was fired and did not resign as some said. Folks we have a real problem with the prsent City Manager and her temper to the point that it is harming our wonderful City.

I would like our Mayor to take a real and solid look at these things and come to the realization that it is well past time that the City Manager be forced to resign and leave. The present City Manager is perhaps the most ill-tempret, foul minded manager Suffolk has ever seen and we cannot afford her antics anymore. The woman is unbalanced and a piria upon our community. Everyone downtown runs scared of this woman and that says it all about why she should go.

Mayor, I supported YOU and I did so because I felt you had the strenght of personality to lead, so we now need you to lead.

I too agree that this saga will bleed more entertainment, except if you live in Suffolk, lol. :(

I have met this lady manager but once, and I must say she was as vile and foul tempered a woman as one could imagine. She dripped arrogence and a mindset of superiority for anyone that did not have the power to fire her.

This woman is not a public sevant, quite the opposite, we all work for her, at least in her mind.

When this person sees or hears how many of our department heads are abused by the CM, I think of the scene in the Godfather where Fredo gets into the boat with a "soldier" and is taken out on Lake Tahoe to go fishing. The next thing you hear is a gunshot and its echo.

And I said THIS before...and I'll say it again..."When are you all going to get it? The City Manager doesn't do ANYTHING without the blessing of the Mayor! Do you actually think the Mayor didn't orchestrate this firing? That she was unaware it was going to happen? You want the Mayor to intervine?!?!?! That's like sending the fox into the hen house to find out where all of the chickens have gone. Nothing goes on in City Hall that Johnson doesn't know about. PERIOD. This isn't the first "resignation" she has ordered and it won't be the last!"
The CM serves at the pleasue of the Mayor. She and only she and her minions can fire her (remember Steve Herbert?). She would never do anything that hasn't been either ordered or sanctioned by Johnson for fear of losing her own cushy job. The truth is if any city employee does anything they don't approve of, like discuss city finances with the city treasurer, they are gone. Cynthia Cage comes to mind as well as Mr. Daughtry, who I am sure, did not decide to retire from a well paying job at 55 years of age in an economy where unemployment is at an all time high to "see if he can do something else"....yeah, right!

I agree the City Manager takes her marching orders from the Mayor.
Both consider themseleves to be our Masters and we are the slaves of the Suffolk Plantation. They have been institutionalized by government for so long the opposite is true, they have become it's slaves. Suffolkians should do their best in next year's election to free them from the chains of government's bondage.

In these hard and trying times, Mr. Walker's statement that he did not resign on his own has the ring of abosulte truth to it, a scarce commondity on Market Street. Mr. Daughtry's calim that he was just moving on to try other things, is just the opposite and is his way of avoiding confrontation and definetly not true. While Mr. Walker has a strong education and experience base, poor Mr. Daughtry does not. So please explain why someone would walk-away from a cushy $100,000+ jobs on their own? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

But, there is one point that almost everyone has failed to notice or comment upon. That is the fact that Ron Williams, our smiling and idiotic Treasurer is on the outs with the City Power Centers like the Mayor, Parr, Gardy, and by default the City Manager and her soldiers. Ron Williams styles himself as a power unto himself and has over-stepped his abilities and powers and is in hotwater with the Queen Bees. Why else do you suppose the Finance Director is not supposed to talk to the Treasurer? They are the senior money guys in town and in many places are close or even the same person.

Ron Williams is really the center of all this fuss, not Mr. Walker or Mr. Daughtry. Mr. Walker is just the latest victim of a fued between Ron Williams and our lovely Mayor, and by default a fight with the City Manager. Want to bet?

I really want to know just how much longer Ron Williams will last before they get something on him and get him to resign? The nepotisum issue with his wife getting a job with Phil the DA, may be the way they get him. I give Mr. Williams six months at best, before he resigns and the Queen Bees get him, too. Then there are the questions of who will be Assessor, Finance Director, and Treasurer?

It is an interesting FACT that ALL the money guys are gone or soon so and isn't that interesting? What could lead to all three of these money guys getting the ax so close together? Could there be some big issue hidden from view? Is it possible that there is a money issue that is being buried that could be explosive or embarassing? Time will tell.

Maybe the money boys found more money than what the Queens wanted to report. Funny how they always find money the lat two years in a row at the end of the year.

Auh-but the real question is who's pocket it is going into? MAybe that has something to do with what is going on.

Walker is forced to walk by the CM because of a compilation error? Something here really stinks and it's coming from this city administration.
