STILL NO CANDIDATES IN SUFFOLK FOR HIGH OFFICE

Joe Barlow will probably run again for Council. He said he would retire only if a quality candidate decided to run for the seat. I talked to the only man I know who had thought about a challenge and he was too reluctant to lay it on the line. It is beginning to look like there are no challengers unless you know something we don't.
As for the school board we would suggest the handsome man with the Polish name retire and let our candidate, Debra Wahlstrom Ph.Dd run unopposed. The School Board needs her.

Rumors abound of a former City Manager running for the Chuckatuck borough seat. He may likely run unopposed as Barlow wants to step down after nearly two terms on council to enjoy a personal life again. Varney has been mentioned as running for Holy Neck against Gardy but nothing definitive. Nobody has surfaced to challenge Parr's seat. Although there have been rumblings from the west end of that borough they cannot find a viable candidate. I'm not sure if Brown's Borough can still be called a part of Suffolk.

Varney vs. Gardy probably=Gardy win.

It doesn't matter what used to happen in Holy Neck, that was in the May elections. Turnout will be higher. Gardy can spend the most.

Who ever runs will be with the approval of Johnson & Johnson. They have the money and political juice that can sway an independent candidate to seek another meaningful endeavor. This autumn while everyone is looking at state and national candidates our little city will just go on with the same bad wasteful spending habits and the same ole boy back slapping by the same individuals.

Another big give away is now underway by the "Suffolk Mothers on Market Street" or as they are now known "The SMMS". The plan at the next city council meeting this wednesday is to give to the EDA (the "Exceedingly Dumb Authority") the old Social Sevices Building and land on North Market Street, which just happens to have a nice big for sale sign in front of it. This will be another way to get money into this brainless organization to fill the slush-fund to power the many political projects that keep the incumbents in power and using us all. Want to bet who's attorney husband is involved? Want to bet what attorney on council will also be involved? Want to bet which councilman from Suffolk is pushing this deal like he owned it?

When we all thought there just was not anymore meat to strip from the turkey we call our hometown, we are wrong again as the midget mayor and her boys at city hall rise yet again to get their due from us all in another backroom deal to graft political pay-ola. It will just never end, will it? So, plaes pass the gravey, mashed potatoes, dressing and cranberry sauce and we will feed them right, or so says the midget mayor and her cook the city manager!

Another sorry tale of how our powerful have a vision for our city that does not inlcude us anymore than most that is doen behind closed doors. Then there also will be another big give away at the golf course in closed session too, so why not include that too! How is it that such things happen in Suffolk and no one has anything to say about it?

Any comments, PLEASE!?

Dear "with full understanding"

you got the wrong department. The building and land you reference being transferred to the EDA is actually the old Health Dept. not the Social Services Dept.

given your id is it kind of funny that you got the wrong department. Perhaps it would be better to change it to... with partial understanding ;-)

I think there were office for both departments there.

Next election can be predicted well in advance of election day. He or she with the most signs wins. Several of the incumbents will likely be employing the Johnson technique of threatening property owners until a sign is posted. The sign crew made up of would be developers, community organizers and poll watchers will be available to trespass on your and your neighbor's yard to get the right visibility. Johnson needs to keep her majority in place if she is to keep the Suffolk gravy train rolling her way.

If one was in the know, you would hold with full understanding that the building I spoke of; in fact did have parts of both departments and more in it as they were so cross polinated that they included the Commonwealth Health Department for water and other departments in trailers and enclosed rooms too. Seems that the Anonymous commenter above is either trying to deflect the valid point made, or is an appoligiest for the mayor and her minion who always depend upon character assassination or worse to hide, obficate, and manipulate facts. I stand by my statements in full and the building was for Social Sevices and other uses since it covered many functions that served as the "social services/helath services hub" for the city and Commonwealth in Suffolk. The Anonymous writer that points to what he or she believes is a missive on my part, must be talking of the building that was used for mulitple uses like Public Works, Information, Engineering etc. of late near Market Street. It was not known by real locals as the "Social Services Building" as claimed, but the Services Annex.

The point though is that the SMMS's are once again giving away our bounty and bleeding us all dry with their agenda and demon plan. Time to halt this evil pilliaging of our hometown and call all that they do into question and full view of the understanding of one and all.

Any more Anonymous comments?

The health department was housed at 1217 N. Main Street since the 1950's until its recent move. It was not shared with any other city or couny entity.

Dear Full...
do a quick google search and you will see where the Health Dept. and the Social Services Dept. are two separate departments. One (the health Dept. was located on N. Main Street) and the other- the Social Services Dept was located at 440 Market Street in a building with the words "Human Resources" building written across the front.

Both are now located in the same building on Hall Ave.

It is OK to be wrong. You sure got in the attack mode quickly when someone points out a simple /harmless error you made in a post.

With so many in the greasy halls of city hall monitoring this site, the comments above to deflect the comments of "With Full Understanding" show that they are more interested in mindless details than the facts. The EDA should not be invloved in this and the City just needs to liquidate the excess properties to reduce taxes. That is about all to say on this line of comment.
