THIS MIGHT CLARIFY

One of our readers had a few minutes of free time while downtown so got clarification on new City of Suffolk septic tank rules. Tanks must be pumped out every 5 years. Notification to septic tank owners (as indicated by permits on file) of new requirement began this year. Some good news however. Tanks only need to be pumped not pumped AND INSPECTED. And, if for example, you got your tank pumped this year and get a notice in the mail next year, you don't need to get it pumped again. Just send in a copy of the bill with the notice letter and they will restart the clock for you at year 4.

Speaking of septic tanks how does does this affect City Hall? I guess they are exempt....

Expect this program to grow into a system run by the City of Suffolk, where they get you to pay a fee to register your septic system, then pay a yearly fee so they can check to see if you have complied with the pump-out requirement.

More money out of our pocket and for nothing!

Hey Budgetmeister Seward, did you forget this one or are you setting us up for another one of your special fees/charges. You must stay up at night thinking these up just to justify your position. I wonder where you live, do they charge fees for septic systems and false burgler alarms?

Ms Seward is not the problem, she is only doing what she is told to do. The real problem is with people like Johnson, Parr and Milteer who think that your money is their money. The mentality is just like Tony Suprano, but with a smile.
