The latest debacle from Washington is the one billion dollar Cash for Clunkers program. This giveaway permanently removes older vehicles that otherwise would be valuable in the resale market for credit towards purchasing more energy efficient models. In just days the money dried up creating calls in Congress for billions more to extend the program. If the federal government so badly underestimated demand, what are the consequences of passing a rationed national healthcare? Healthcare administrators may one day view our senior citizens like a high mileage 1980 Chevy. They could be coldly judged as having made their contribution to society and now its time for the junkyard to make room for others more productive. It won’t be long before tax strapped children are coerced to wheel their clunker parents in for fast cash and a trip to a government managed hospice as the solution to rising Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security costs. Now may be a good time to update your Will.

One aspect of healthcare costs conveniently was over looked by the Democrats is Tort Reform. The concern of doctors is to treat the patient and minimize their liability by requesting countless often unrelated tests. Here is where costs can be substantially reduced. It's no surprise Obamacare doesn't address this problem some of his and Congress' biggest contributors are trial lawyers.
No cash for Seniors, they are worth nothin, just ask your new leader. They use up resources that the young cannot afford and just need to keep quiet until the end. Why waste the cash of the young on people that don't even work anymore?
Cars turned in as clunkers are systematically destroyed by an additive administered at the dealership into the crankcase. In seconds the running engine seizes. In the future a Dr. Josef Mengele from the Federal Agency of Eugenics will do the same to our elderly and infirm. You have got to wonder what they will be doing with the leftover parts. Apple's Steven Jobs could have saved hundreds of thousands if he weren't in such a hurry for a liver.
Americans may beat back the Hiliarycare-Obamacare crazys this time but they will be back again and again. The challenge is to end this nonsense here and now. No one doubts the healthcare system needs fixing the problem is government interference and special interest groups.
Just as China has a one child policy, the USA will have a one grandparent policy. As the young are born, each family will have to euthinize their old to have babies. The process will be to make room for the young by casting aside the old, who take up to many resources in their end time. They will be counseled into the belief that they can serve their families and society by allowing their lives to be termitated quickly with dignity and great cost savings for their families. This will end the longevity gains we have seen for generations and end people's expectation of living a happy long life, naturally. I guess as we have become an "throw-away society" it was only a matter of time before we started throwing-away our old people too. The rich and political will not have to abide by the rules and we will have a CAST System, where the powerful and rich live long lives and the rest of us die by suicide or due to the lack of care, since proper care is to expensive to be wasted on the old. The use of these "Review Boards" to determine the cost-benefit of providing care is not what most of us thought our America would become when we fought the NAZIs and Communists. If this kind of thing is approved, it will prove that there is now little difference between the governments in Washington and Bejing. What is the difference anyway? There is no longer real democratic elections. There are just narrow candiates that pander to get elected and then serve the special interests that got them elected. Just look at outfits like "ACORN" and how OBAMA got elected and is doing the census! With such, American is a lost dream that has been subverted to special interests and liberal views of a great, but corrupted society that will decide all, including when you DIE!
So carry on with your life like nothing is amiss and let your future be decided by beurocrats that will look at a huge process just to tell you that it is best that you not have that hip replaced, a wheel-chair is all that they have for you. As you set in you chair and your kidneys fail, you will be wheeled aside as to costly until they put you into the grave. Welcome to the new and changed America.
It is clear the subject of a government take over of the healthcare industry will never be put to rest until they get their way. Both political parties will try another power grab when the time is right. Government will have expanded further into our lives and private businesses have become more dependent on Federal dollars for survival. Very soon they will overpower the collective resources of the private sector to resist.
If we are to put this and other issues to rest, we as citizens must demand a constitutional convention and support third party candidates. A convention will put these issues on the front burner for each and every state to hammer out who and what values they support.
Failing that, we have only one option left and that is to disband peaceably as a union of states. The stakes could not be higher.
Take Grandma down to the hospital and trade her in for a certificate for $4500 off your hospital costs for your next kid.
The way things are going since "The One" has been elected, is not how America is supposed to be. America has been and is to be about limited government and freedom. We are now getting more government and less freedom every day. Tell me again what the difference between China and the USA is now that we are under the control of Chairman "O"? Will we also have a full fledged purge of freedom and "Great Enlightenment"?
I shudder for the future of my gandchildren as the USA becomes the socialist state that many in power now seem to want and demand.
What will be the next government program; cash for appliances refrigerators, washer, dryers? Will it be cash for kids, college education for a lifetime of government indentured servitude. Unfortunately with this Congress and Administration cash for innovation and productivity will never considered.
It is interesting to see the doom and gloom comments all over here. I have one question. What have you personally done to change it? Have you given big to a politician or candidate that you trust? Have you really worked hard (more than a few hours time)to get someone you trust elected? I don't mean a few twenty dollar bills, I mean thousands and days of your time? If you are willing to spend more money and time on a vacation than getting a good person elected to office, how can it all be so important to you? To get good people to run and serve, takes a commitment that just is not usally given by anyone now days. So we have angry and cranky people who "talk the talk, but do not walk the walk".
That is what is wrong with America today. To many have a complaint, but really don't want to pay up in resources or time to get a proper result. So we end up with the candidates supported by special interests who will pay and support their candidates for office and it shows. So if you are not willing to give more than what you spend on a dinner or can only give an hour or so of your time, you have nothing to complain about as you got what you paid for or invest in to show for your efforts.
Thanks for being part of the new American experiment in apathy and big talk.
Don't be a watcher, be a doer. A watcher observes but does not act.
I agree with his/her points. It will take something far more serious that healthcare or the national debt to awaken the slumbering masses. They have been roused recently from their slumber but will likely roll over on to their side and fall back asleep as soon as the next election. The American people lack staying power, attention span and wherewithall to fight the fight for right.
Americans for generations maintained a trust with their elected officials. They would support them by votes if they maintained a rational approach to government. That all went out in the 1960s and has worsened to the pathetic government we have today. It use to be the duty of citizens to vote at every primary and election. An election turnout now that nears 50% of registered voters is a good one.
The challenge is how to keep ALL of our elected officials on the defensive. How to keep voters going to the polls? How to maintain focus on the issues? How to keep up the scare?
There is no way to keep up the scare. The american voter has yet to see enough pain to make any real changes and will vote people into office jsut because they know there name and little else. Just like the mess caused over the last few years in our economy, the issue of how elected representatives act has now become even more important, since the government is now even more involved in all aspects of our economy.
We are on the next cycle, of a society in fast decline. If we hit bottom and hit hard, is entirely in the hands of my fellow citizens. I don't have much faith the slide will slow, especially given the decisions made over the last ten years and especially the last two years. America is like a cancer patient on chemo. They are sick and cranky, lossing their hair and unsure if they will survive. And they do have concern that the world will change and big!
Unless thing change significantly in the good-ole USA, we will fail by our own faults. We don't trust our leaders. We are not happy with our lot and are scared about our jobs, homes, and retirement. Then there seems to be too many that masqurade as leaders that only want to take advantage and pocket what they can. Were it will go is hard to say, but it will go somewhere. Suffolk is seeing more and less of these issues, but is not detached from this larger problem. I think it will get alot worse, berfore it gets better, especially here in Suffolk where we have had it pretty good so far. We now are at a critical point, where we will most likley see in the next few years, how it will go. We can all hope for the best, but unless there is more attention to how our county is run and that includes Suffolk, we will are be caught short!
I want to buy a senior, like Big Bob. How much and what can he do?
